Woods eyes Presidents Cup

Tiger Woods is looking to play in as many tournaments as possible to try and hit form for the Presidents Cup.

The 35-year-old has failed to qualify for the lucrative FedEx Cup play-offs after an injury-plagued and below-par season, which culminated in a missed cut at the USPGA Championship.

After missing out on the end-of-season extravaganza, the next tournament that the former world number one could play in would be the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, which begins on September 29.

The event is one of the so-called 'Fall Series' events and there will be others available to the 14-time major winner if he chooses to participate.

Woods is already pencilled in to make an appearance at the Australian Open at Sydney's Lakes Golf Club from November 10-13 and is keen to remain Down Under to be part of the USA team to take on the International team at Royal Melbourne.

But, due to his results this year, Woods will rely on being a pick from captain Fred Couples and he admits that he is looking at ways to increase his competitive playing time to give Couples every reason to pick him.

"Right now, I'm looking at my options," he said on his official website. "I've had some conversations with US captain Fred Couples, and we'll see how it goes.

"Of course, I want to be on the team. It's always fun to play for your country, and we did pretty well two years ago in San Francisco. I'm just going to keep practising and try to get better. It's Freddie's call, and he can make any choice he wants."
