Final hole bogey by Green hands Englishman Irish Open title
A final hole bogey from Australian Richard Green handed Simon Dyson a nail-biting one-shot victory at the Irish Open in Killarney.
Dyson came storming home in his final round, with two birdies in his final three holes seeing him card a four-under par 67 and get into the clubhouse on 15-under.
Left-hander Green was playing in the final group and trailed Dyson by a shot until he picked up a birdie at the par-five 16th to put him level at the top of the leaderboard with two holes to play.
Dyson just missed out on a birdie on 18 and was left nervously waiting for the expected play-off, until Green's second shot on the last left him with a huge putt to win it.
Nerves got the better of the left-hander as he bombed his putt 12 foot beyond the hole and he was now faced with a massive putt to salvage a play-off, which he could not convert as it slid by the hole to hand Dyson the title.
